Stay Informed With The Talley Trio

Hey y’all,

We’re off this Memorial Day weekend and I’m thinking three things:
Bar-be-que. My mom LOVES hot dogs, so I’m sure everyone will be
gathering at Talleywood this weekend. (That’s our nickname for Mom and
Dad’s house) My fiance, Brian, and I are up to our necks in work on
the new house we’ll share after the wedding, and endless errands and
to-do lists. Thought this was supposed to be vacation?!

We just completed our Extra Mile conference in Jacksonville, NC and
what a special day! In the afternoon session, the Trio kicked things
off with a mini-concert and Mom was the first keynote speaker of the
day. She gave a great talk about the lessons in her own life
experiences and how God has used those to show her her life’s purpose.
The second half brought yours truly up to the stage to do a “Songs In
The Night” mini-concert and a workshop called “Get Up, Pick Up and
Walk,” from the study of John 5 in the “Songs In The Night” book. Our message for the
day was pointed to the attendees who have a God-given calling on their
lives that is waiting to be fulfilled. Some of us are afraid. Some of
us don’t know where to begin. God is calling each of us to a greater
life and a greater service for Him, and He gives us the strength to do
what He asks us to do. The altars were full and many lives were
changed that day, including mine.

That evening we premiered our brand new live CD and DVD, He’s Alive!
which was taped as a special for the INSP network. We were joined on
stage by the Wilmington Celebration Choir who did an outstanding job!
I can hardly wait for the next time.
(If you don’t yet have your copy of the new live project, get it here.)

If you’ve been following the updates on my papaw, R.C. “Red” Talley,
he is back home and doing very well. He spent several weeks in the
hospital and a rehab facility this spring recovering from a stroke
suffered at some point unknown, and pneumonia. He has a full-time
caregiver who cooks him biscuits and gravy, watches Braves games with
him and takes him to Long John Silvers, so he’s doing just fine. :)

Mom and I did a great event in the Gainesville, GA area a few weeks
ago. We were part of a special women’s conference featuring us, Connie
and Kim Hopper, Mary Jane Carter and Candy Pfeifer, Susan Whisnant and
Karen Peck Gooch. It was hosted by our friends CS&K and inspired by
the women’s events at Singing In The Sun and Gatlinburg Gathering. We
even formed some impromptu trios: myself, Kim Hopper and Karen Peck
Gooch on “Four Days Late”! (Yes, I sang the tenor part.)

My dad has been very busy in the studio this year working on projects
for Ivan Parker, Tribute Quartet and several other artists. I’m in the
background on Ivan’s new record and I was privileged to be a special
guest on Mark Bishop’s new single, “My Name Is Jesus.”

We also just found out the Talley Trio has received Top 5 nominations
in the Singing News Fan Awards (www.singingnews.com) for Favorite
Trio, Favorite Soprano (me) and Favorite Alto (Debra)! We truly thank
you so much for honoring us- YOU are our awards!

One more thing: Tickets are now on sale for Gatlinburg Gathering!

You can find our CDs, DVDs, books, soundtracks, shirts and concert
dates all at www.talleytrio.com.

Keep praying for us…sometimes it gets tough to keep all the plates
spinning, as I’m sure it is for you at times. My encouragement to you
is to look for the lessons…God teaches us every day. He’s whispering
to you. Take time to listen.

We treasure you very much!

Until next time,
Lauren Talley
