Happy New Year Everyone! I've heard several people say that 2016 was a terrible year and they would be happy to see it go. Life is just plain harder some years. That statement can be made by any of us at any given time. The events of a certain year that stay in our minds and cause pain can color our view for the entire year. Really, there are, for the most part, as many good days as bad. The pain we experience makes the good harder to remember.
A new year gives us hope. Hope that things will be better and the pain of the past will subside. It's true that time does heal wounds. Maybe we don't completely forget, but we at least learn to move on. For nonbelievers, their hope is in hope itself. An abstract idea that vanishes at the first sign of adversity. But for believers in Christ, those who have a personal relationship, our hope is in Him. We know that adversity will come, but our Savior will be close through whatever we face giving us strength and guidance. Will we face pain? Of course we will, but our Hope is also our Comforter. Our Hope, Jesus Christ will be whatever we need. That gives me hope. The real Hope!
As you begin the New Year, place your faith in the Hope of the world, Jesus. Give thanks for all the blessings in your life and look ahead to a blessed 2017!
