Here's hoping you have a great Independence Day! We enjoyed a great service in Port Huron, MI this past Sunday, which also turned out to be Canada Day! Yes, we did have a few Canadian friends in attendance, so we sang "O Canada" just for them, and they stood with us as we asked God to forgive and bless our two nations. Lauren celebrates the Fourth this year with a special outdoor solo concert in Somerville, AL, while Roger and Debra grill burgers at home and relax by the pool. (Someone has to do it.)
Roger deserves it- he's working very hard in the studio these days. Right now he's finishing up a recording by the legendary Sue Dodge and beginning a Christmas project for a talented new family group, Children of the Promise. (Family groups are kind of his thing, you know.) Maybe listening to Christmas music by the pool will help it seem a little cooler?!
We enjoyed being part of Karen Peck and New River's Homecoming weekend not long ago, with the Gospel Through Girls and Guitars Tour. Karen even hosted all of us at her house for lunch! Not only is she a great singer, but she also makes what might be the best coconut cake ever. (Don't tell Grandma.)
Lauren recently appeared at LifeWay Music's WorshipLife conference to perform "When The Answer Is No" with the Wilmington Celebration Choir. Lillenas Music has just released the song as a choral anthem, and you can see a video of the performance here: Facebook/TheTalleys
